What is Bariatric Surgery?

Posted by Bay Surgical Specialists
/ June 11, 2012

Bariatric surgery is a procedure that reduces the size of the stomach. A surgeon will perform bariatric surgery if your efforts to lose weight through lifestyle changes and medications have been ineffective. There are two types of bariatric surgery: Restrictive Procedure decreases the size of the stomach to one cup and Malabsorptive Procedure decreases the adsorption of calories in the small intestine.
